Cllr Duncan Hames says that a lot of research has been prepared for the meeting.

Cllr Duncan Hames, chairman of the district council's External Overview committee has called a meeting to investigate ways to tackle anti-social behaviour in West Wiltshire. The meeting, on Wednesday 19th January, is open to the public and will explore how the district council can work with its partners across the county and with the police in tackling anti-social behaviour.

The focus of the meeting will be the powers that exist in statutory bodies and how these can be used to the greatest effect. One of the areas up for discussion will be anti-social behaviour orders.

A speaker from the West Wiltshire Community Safety Partnership will provide a background to the situation in West Wiltshire and explain the partnership working that is already taking place, and it is hoped to also secure a contribution from Wiltshire Police. All district councillors have been invited to attend the meeting, as have representatives of the five community area partnerships.

Councillor Hames says that members of the public are also welcome to come along. "Anti-social behaviour is a high profile issue that concerns many residents, and tackling it requires the Council to work effectively with its partners. This meeting will help us ensure that we do just that."

The External Overview committee meets in the Council Chamber at West Wiltshire District Council, Bradley Road, Trowbridge. The meeting on Wednesday 19 January will start at 7pm.
