UPDATE - Traffic Calming on Webbington Road1.12.01pm GMT Tue 18th Mar 2008
8 o'clock one morning saw residents join Mark, John and Sylvia in Webbington Road to protest at the excessive amount of cars rat-running through the estate, often in excess of 30 mph. The following week Sylvia presented the petition to the County Council calling for traffic calming on Webbington Road This has now been passed to the cabinet member for highways. Whilst our pleas for a pedestrian crossing by Blackwellhams has been turned down, officers are now looking at an alternative crossing for the area. The whole problem of traffic calming will be discussed when the Local Transport Funding meeting for Chippenham is held in the Town Hall on March 11th. However as a result of the petition the good news is a traffic camera appeared in Webbington Road, near Rumble Dene. The bad news is that it was in half term week, when traffic is lighter. Thank you to all who filled in the petition and to those of you who turned out on a cold morning to stand in the road. Sylvia will keep you informed of the outcome of the LTP meeting
