New “Leader of the Opposition” on Wiltshire Council

June 1, 2010 3:26 PM

The 24-strong Liberal Democrat Group on Wiltshire Council have chosen Melksham councillor Jon Hubbard as their new leader.

Jon takes over the role from Trevor Carbin who led the group for the first year of the new unitary council.

Following his appointment Jon said, "I am delighted to have been chosen by my colleagues to lead the Liberal Democrat group on Wiltshire Council. This is a challenging time for local government and we will be carefully monitoring the actions of the Conservative administration here in Wiltshire and challenging them when their actions are unfair or not in the public's best interest. Liberal Democrats will offer a positive and constructive alternative for Wiltshire."
