Swindon Pot Hole Menace!

February 3, 2020 3:01 PM

Councillor Stan PajakLocal Lib Dems call for action now!

This January England "celebrated" National Pothole Day. The figures are perhaps the worst ever with 17 miles of pot holes reported last year and if you combined their depth it would reach a staggering 18 miles! The Government gave local councils just over £200 million to sort their pot holes out but a survey of local authorities revealed they needed £9.8 billion to bring their road networks up to scratch!

Eastcott Councillor says "So many of our roads in Eastcott are in a terrible and potentially dangerous state. A pothole is identified as a hazard if over 40mm deep and the Council aim to try and repair it within 24 hours. However, with the prolonged wet weather and budget cuts they are struggling to keep up with demand and there is a significant backlog."

Stan is campaigning for not only additional resources for pot hole repair but for more of our roads to be resurfaced. "Unbelievably" Stan says "in the Tory Council road programme this year for resurfacing there are only two Eastcott roads included - Radnor Street and Raggett Street, which is the shortest road in the whole of Eastcott, plus the Eastcott Road Bath road junction. We deserve and need more! "

To report a pot hole either go to the Council web site www.swindon.gov.uk or email Stan on stanpajak@ymail.com or telephone him on 07711039789.
