    Reacting to the ‎news of Wiltshire Council's last minute U-turn to drop Sunday car parking charges due to start this Sunday, Leader of the Opposition and Lib Dem Group Leader on Wiltshire Council Ian Thorn said,

    "I'm delighted that Wiltshire Council's Cabinet have finally seen sense. These Sunday parking charges were a terrible idea.

    Wiltshire Liberal Democrats have launched a County wide petition to force a full Council debate and vote on controversial new car parking charges.

    The new charges for Sunday and Bank Holiday parking in Wiltshire Council car parks will be introduced from 19th November in the run up to Christmas.

    The Lib Dems hope to get 5,000 signatures on a petition calling for the charges to be dropped. If successful, that will force a full debate and vote on the charges at the next meeting of Wiltshire Council in the New Year.

    Lib Dem Deputy Group Leader Cllr Ruth Hopkinson joined local residents in condemning Wiltshire Council's Conservative Cabinet‎'s decision to close the Everleigh Recycling Centre near Pewsey.

    "Wiltshire Council's Conservative leadership has consistently underspent on capital assets and maintenance. The Everleigh Household Recycling Centre is a victim of that short sighted approach.

    After hearing concerns from local residents about the state of Conscience Lane in Rowde, and the lack of a safe pavement.

    FOCUS editor Alan Rankin has raised the issue at Rowde Parish Council. Various agencies are now discussing appropriate solutions and hopefully a safe pathway will eventually appear.

    FOCUS editor Alan Rankin's campaign for a safer crossing of the A360 by the George and Dragon in Potterne has moved a step forward.

    "I was delighted to hear at Potterne Parish Council's meeting in September that they've recognised the dangerous nature of crossing the A360," said local campaigner Alan Rankin.
